In 2010, EDF launched the 1st EDF Sustainable Design Challenge. This international competition, supported by EDF’s R&D department, is open to design, architecture, business and engineering schools and universities from around the world and focuses on energy efficiency and design. The most innovative projects will be showcased in the EDF Pavilion in the Olympic Park during the London 2012 Games.
The EDF Pavilion
The partnership with London 2012 provides the Group with a unique opportunity to increase public awareness of the value and importance of energy by linking it to sport and the magic of the Games.
The EDF Pavilion will be located opposite the Olympic Stadium and will showcase the Group’s innovations and expertise in the area of energy production and demand. Almost 215,000 people per day are expected to visit the Olympic Park during the Games. The EDF Pavilion will explore the challenges that are facing the energy sector in an educational and entertaining way. It will bring visitors on a journey from energy production to efficient energy consumption, engaging and challenging each person to consume energy more responsibly.
